Mick has over 25 years' experience as a strength, conditioning and injury rehabilitation coach and Personal Fitness Trainer across a range of disciplines. This includes 10 years as the Head Trainer, Rehabilitation Officer and Boxing Coach for the Canberra Raiders 1st grade squad. 10 years as the Head fitness coach for the Australian Federal Police working with general population, new recruits and tactical operators. As well as being the Strength and Conditioning Coach for many sporting team including; Vikings Rugby Club, Brumbies 21's, U21's NSW State of Origin and U21's Australian Rugby League Team.
Kelsey is at her happiest when training, and she is lucky enough to combine her love of training with her two jobs- coach at the Den and professional javelin thrower. Kelsey’s passion in the gym is strength training with a specialty in weightlifting. She holds a Bachelor of Sports Coaching and Exercise Science and is a Level 1 strength and conditioning coach. From her years of training as a professional javelin thrower she brings the values of passion, determination and focus to her coaching at the Den.
Jess has an extensive sporting background playing predominantly hockey since she was 5 years old. Jess has represented ACT in the Australian Hockey League. Before her transition to Canberra she used to run her own highly successful boot camps and training programs, which included outdoor training and endurance running programs. The passion for team sport/training and understanding the benefits of working hard together to achieve a common goal is what attracted Jess to the Den. The success of the Team (or pack) is best achieved through clear communication, positive support and out right effort, something Jess has been able to transfer from the sporting field into her professional working career. Jess has a keen interest in exploring the benefits of interval training and its relationship to Strength training while in a rehabilitation setting for individuals recovering from injury and still maintaining a high level of conditioning.
kari has a strong and determined training and professional background as a crossfit competitor, marathon runner and if that isn't enough, Kari is also a long distance triathlon competitor and one of only a few female firefighters in Canberra. Kari is also a new mum and is the go to coach at The Den for programs or fitness related information on all things postnatal. Her ability to confront obstacles, identify issues and communicate effectively makes Kari an outstanding coach and an asset to the Den and all of its members.
Nicole is currently studying Mental Health and is now broadening her skills to include fitness coaching with a view to delivering holistic health solutions. Nicole's passion for supporting vulnerable members of our community and her plans to develop programs that foster mental health via physical therapy is something we are really enthusiastic to explore and complements The Den's values and strategic goals. Nicole is a great addition to The Pack and will bring a fresh approach to our program in the future. In the short term she's a force to be reckoned with on the floor and boasts significant achievements in her personal fitness journey. Nicole will work tirelessly to support you achieving your goals at The Den.
Richard has always lived an active lifestyle through sports such as rugby, cricket, martial arts and weightlifting. However, it was the constant yo-yoing between physical progress and injury that lead Richard to follow a different pathway to physical fitness and mobility. Power Yoga provides a perfect balance of a powerful physical practice while improving core strength, flexibility, joint mobility and balance. It’s also the ‘hidden’ benefits of yoga like tools to better cope with stress, compassion for and connection with your body, and increased mental strength and discipline that have encouraged him to bring the practice of yoga into his daily life. In 2017, Richard travelled to the USA to deepen his knowledge and practice, completing the Baptiste Yoga Institute’s Level One Training and Expand Your Power: 200 hours Yoga Teacher Training later the same year here in Australia. Through a powerful practice, Richard will show you how yoga can be integrated into your life. He is passionate about making yoga accessible to people who would not normally be drawn to its benefits or be comfortable in the conventional environments where it is currently available.
